On Friday 7th June, Year 5 parents were invited into school to work alongside their children. The first activity came from resources from the Week of Inspirational Maths – parents and children first watched a short video aimed at raising awareness of different approaches to maths reasoning and problem-solving. Then, parents and children worked together, using resources, to puzzle out possible solutions to a coin-related challenge. Excellent team-work and logical working was witnessed. Congratulations go to Hayden, Matthew, Lewis and Matthew and Lewis’ dad who found the solution first.

After that, the group travelled back to Tudor times and took part in a few Tudor past-times: they took part in a dance workshop which was made up of several Henry VIII’s activities including tennis and jousting; they also played ’31’ a classic Tudor dice game and ‘Nine Men’s Morris’ which is a Tudor board game and enjoyed learning a classic Tudor branle dance.

Both children and adults enjoyed their morning.
