At Bede Burn we want our children to ask questions and wonder why. In Science we nurture this curiosity and help them to develop the skills they need to answer those questions.
Sessions are planned around Cornerstones ‘Love to Investigate’ units specifically designed to develop our children’s investigative skills as well as develop key knowledge around topics which interest them.
Each unit starts with a question to ignite children’s interests and help them to explore the world around them from finding out ‘How big is a raindrop’, discovering ‘What colour is a shadow?’ and exploring just ‘Whose poo?’ there is always something new to learn about how science works and why science matters in the world.
EYFS Understanding the World
Children know about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials and living things. They talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one another. They make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things occur, and talk about changes.
